The Wine Estate

On the north-west border of the city of Vienna, where the Weinviertel meets the Donauland and the wine-growing region of Vienna, the Pfaffl family cultivates 30 hectares of the best vineyards in the region. Beginning from the small wine community of Stetten bei Korneuburg, the Pfaffl vineyards stretch over 10 different communities. The cultivation of this “scattered” vineyard area is accordingly difficult, but one is happy to make the effort to be able to use the outstanding soil.

The family’s wine-growing tradition goes back generations. Additional top vineyards have been acquired since the present owners, Roman and Adelheid Pfaffl, took over the business. They checked the soil quality and climatic conditions, and stocked them with the optimum grape varieties.

In this way it has not only been possible for Roman Pfaffl to give his vines excellent prerequisites, but to also give them appropriate provision in their youth.

The exactness and closeness of nature in vineyard cultivation is reflected in the vinification. In the most modernly arranged cellar, the grape materials are offered the best conditions to mature into the finest wines. Here, as in the vineyard, Roman Pfaffl wishes to intercede in a supporting way the natural process. “The main work,” he is convinced “is undertaken by nature herself.”
